Introducing campaign governance

A naming convention is agreed quickly. To make it hold when teams, agencies and channels change, I define it with you, set up Feinwerk Campaigns and accompany the first campaigns all the way to the figures in Matomo.

How I work

  1. 01Review of the campaign values that arrive in Matomo today
  2. 02Workshop on the naming convention, channels and who approves new values
  3. 03Setting up Feinwerk Campaigns in the pilot
  4. 04Onboarding your team and your agencies

Why conventions fail in daily work

Whether a company can analyse its campaigns is rarely decided in the report, but when the link is built. The rules usually exist. They just do not hold, for three reasons:

  • The rule lives in a file. It sits in a spreadsheet or a PDF. Whoever builds a link under time pressure does not look it up but writes from memory.
  • Every handover dilutes it. With every new colleague, every new agency and every new channel, sources and campaigns get written a little differently.
  • Nobody sees whether it holds. Whether a link is built correctly and the measurement works often only shows when figures are missing from the monthly report.

What I implement with you

  • Review in Matomo Which sources, mediums and campaign names arrive today, and which mean the same thing? This shows where your reports fall apart.
  • Workshop on the naming convention We define which values and channels exist, how campaign names are built and who approves new values.
  • Setting up Feinwerk Campaigns In the pilot I set up your workspace with the convention, your websites and, if you have it, Matomo. The convention then lives in the link builder: whoever builds a link picks from your values instead of looking them up.
  • Onboarding team and agencies I show your team and your agencies how to build links, request new values and check campaigns before launch.

What you have afterwards

  • One standard that your team and every agency work by, with a clear approval for new values
  • Checked landing pages: the instant check finds lost parameters, wrong site IDs and expired certificates before the budget runs
  • With Matomo, results per campaign and per link that your team can read without Matomo training
  • A history of who changed what and when, even when an agency changes

Feinwerk Campaigns in the pilot

Feinwerk Campaigns is our sister brand’s tool for campaign links, hosted in Germany. During the pilot phase Feinwerk takes on a small number of marketing teams and agencies and sets up the first workspace together with them. With this service I provide the consulting around it: from the convention to the first checked campaign.

If you want to tackle this for your company, write to me via the contact form. You can also request the pilot itself directly from Feinwerk Campaigns.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does the introduction cost?

The price is on request and depends on the number of teams, agencies and websites. You get a quote after the intro call. Feinwerk Campaigns itself is charged per workspace, not per person: your team and invited agencies work along at no extra cost.

Do we need Matomo for this?

No. Planning, links, landing page checks and click counts also work with GA4 or without any analytics tool. With Matomo you also get results per link and a check whether new events actually arrive.

What happens to campaigns that are already running?

Existing links can be taken over or imported via CSV and are then checked against the new convention. I look at the values that are already in Matomo during the review.

What changes for our agencies?

Every agency works by your convention and only sees its own campaigns. You invite agencies free of charge and revoke access with one click. If an agency leaves, campaigns, links and tracking documentation stay with you.
